Meet Jaden Newman, the teenage basketball sensation making waves not only on the court but also in the digital realm with a robust social media presence. Born on June 13, 2004, in Orlando, Florida, to basketball-loving parents Jamie and Vivian Newman, Jaden grew up alongside her older brother, Julian Newman, another basketball prodigy.
The Newman siblings even star in their own reality TV show, “The Newmans.”
Basketball runs in the family, with Jamie Newman having been a high school coach and both parents sharing a love for the sport. It was only natural that Jaden and her brother would gravitate towards basketball from an early age.
Jaden Newman Birthplace and Early Life
Jaden’s journey in basketball began at a mere three years old, showcasing her early passion for the game. By the age of nine, she was already playing for the Varsity high school team, where her father coached. Her exceptional skills as a point guard stood out, catching the attention of the basketball community.
The University of Miami noticed Jaden’s talent early on, offering her a Division 1 scholarship at the age of nine. Her performances for the high school team, Downey Christian School in Orlando, only intensified the interest from major colleges. In her first full season in the fifth grade, Jaden averaged an impressive 15 points per game, a feat that would double in the following years.
While still an amateur at Downey Christian School, where she is set to graduate in 2022, Jaden’s basketball prowess has been nothing short of extraordinary. Making her debut in the high school varsity team at the age of nine, she steadily increased her points per game average, reaching an astounding 46 points per game in one season.
Jaden Newman Professional Career
Jaden Newman gained national attention in 2015 when, at the age of 11, she became the youngest girl basketball player to score 1,000 career points at the Varsity prep level. Her scoring abilities continued to soar, and by the seventh grade, she had surpassed 2,000 points.
In a notable feat at the age of 13, Jaden scored 70 points in a single game, equaling the national record with 17 three-pointers. Her dedication to the sport is evident in her rigorous practice routine, reportedly taking 500 shots every day with her brother.
As Jaden approaches graduation in 2022, there’s no shortage of offers expected from college teams. However, her heart is reportedly set on playing for the UConn Huskies, inspired by her idols who represented the University of Connecticut women’s basketball team. Jaden Newman also harbors dreams of becoming the first woman to play in the NBA.
In terms of family, Jaden is still in her teens and currently single. Her father, Jamie, and mother, Vivian, both had basketball backgrounds, instilling a love for the sport in their children. Jaden’s older brother, Julian, born almost three years before her, is also a basketball prodigy, and both siblings have made headlines for their remarkable talent on the court.
