Morgan Wallen Arrested on Felony Charges

Country music sensation Morgan Wallen found himself in hot water early Monday morning in Nashville. The Metro Nashville Police Department reported that Wallen was arrested on three felony counts of reckless endangerment and one misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct after allegedly hurling a chair from the rooftop of a bar the previous night. The chair landed dangerously close to two police officers, prompting swift action from law enforcement.

The incident took place at Chief’s, a new bar, restaurant, and live music venue owned by fellow country artist Eric Church. Wallen’s run-in with the law comes on the heels of a public apology he made in February 2021 after TMZ posted a video showing him using a racial slur in Nashville. Following the controversy, Wallen faced repercussions from his record label, Big Loud, and experienced a temporary drop in radio airplay and support from platforms like CMT.

Despite the setback, Morgan Wallen’s career rebounded spectacularly, with his album “Dangerous” making history as the first country album to spend seven consecutive weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. He continued to dominate the charts, with his song “Last Night” claiming the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 year-end chart, and his album “One Thing at a Time” securing the No. 1 position on the Billboard 200 year-end chart.

As for the recent incident, WKRN reports that Morgan Wallen faces three counts of reckless endangerment for endangering both officers and the public, along with a charge of disorderly conduct. His bail was set at $15,250, and he was released around 3:30 a.m. Eyewitnesses recounted seeing Wallen laughing as he threw the chair from the sixth floor, an act confirmed by security footage and witness testimonies. Despite his arrest, Wallen seemed unfazed, smiling in his mugshot and even chuckling in the back of the police car.

The timing of Morgan Wallen’s arrest is particularly unfortunate, coming just days after he kicked off his One Night at a Time tour. He is scheduled to appear in court on May 3, sandwiched between performances at Nashville’s Nissan Stadium on May 2 and 3.
