The incident occurred when filming for “Wonder Man” was not underway, leading to the production being halted following the accident. Marvel expressed their condolences to Osorio’s family and friends and pledged their support for the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident.
“Wonder Man” features Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as the lead, portraying Simon Williams, who transforms into the superhero Wonder Man. Ben Kingsley also stars, reprising his role as Trevor Slattery from “Iron Man 3.”
The show is directed by filmmaker Destin Daniel Cretton, known for his work on Marvel’s “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.” Andrew Guest is also involved in the project as part of Cretton’s overall deal with Marvel Studios and Onyx Collective.
While the release date of “Wonder Man” has not been announced, the series will premiere on Disney+. Drawing inspiration from the “Wonder Man” comic books, the show will focus on Simon Williams, the son of a wealthy industrialist who gains superpowers from Baron Zemo and initially plans to betray the Avengers.
In the comic books, Simon eventually joins the Avengers and becomes a key member of the West Coast Avengers. It remains to be seen how closely the show will follow this storyline.
