In recent TikTok posts on their joint account, the 34-year-old former TLC reality stars seemed to address the surge of online attention they’ve been receiving. This comes in light of public revelations that Abby tied the knot with United States Army veteran Josh Bowling in 2021.
In one video, accompanied by a montage of historical sculptures depicting conjoined twins, set to the tune of “Real Love Baby” by Father John Misty, Abby and Brittany wrote, “The internet is buzzing today. We’ve always been here ❤️ #abbyandbrittanyhensel #happy #love #lovestory #marriage.”
Another clip, captioned “#forever,” shows the twins embracing Abby’s husband, Bowling, with a voiceover addressing “haters,” stating, “This is for all you haters out there. If you watch everything I do, you’re still a fan.”
While the posts didn’t directly reference specific comments, they were a response to the recent attention surrounding Abby’s relationship with Bowling. Their Facebook profile picture features what appears to be a wedding photo, showing the twins in bridal attire, holding hands with Bowling in a grey suit.
Abby and Brittany, known for their appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show in 1996, now reside in their home state of Minnesota and work as fifth-grade teachers. Bowling’s Facebook page also features photos of him with the twins, and his X (formerly Twitter) profile describes him as “Christian, Father, Husband, Veteran, and occasional gamer.”
Despite attempts to reach out to representatives for Abby and Brittany Hensel, as well as Bowling, there has been no response as of now.
Abby and Brittany are dicephalus conjoined twins, a rare form where two heads share one torso. Apart from sharing all organs below the waist, they also share a bloodstream. Brittany controls the left side of their body, while Abby controls the right.
At birth, doctors offered to separate them, but their parents, Patty and Mike, opted against it due to the low chances of survival. The twins gained further attention after starring in the TLC reality series Abby & Brittany, chronicling their lives post-graduation from Minnesota’s Bethel College and their travels in Europe.
“People have been curious about us since birth, for obvious reasons,” the twins shared in the first episode of the series. “But our parents never let us use that as an excuse. We were raised to believe we could do anything we wanted to do.”
