The leaked videos stem from discussions among senior members of the National Council of Democratic Forces (NCDF), an alliance representing various opposition parties in Azerbaijan. One video captured a moment when a mother accidentally walked into her daughter’s virtual classroom naked during a Zoom session.

On June 29, 2021, at 14:00, President Aliyev forgot to exit a Zoom meeting, leading to an unintended leak of footage. The leaked videos, spanning from May 13 to 17, revealed conversations among leading figures of the NCDF opposition alliance.

Notably, the individual in the video is not President Aliyev or Prime Minister Asadov. Despite rumors circulating online, there is no evidence linking them to the leaked footage. Azerbaijan’s parliament recently passed a law criminalizing insults against the country’s president on social media.

In a separate incident, former MP Husseinbala Mirelemov faced repercussions after a video surfaced showing him inappropriately touching his secretary in his office. He was subsequently dismissed from his party and resigned from his university position.

Meanwhile, President Aliyev partook in various official engagements, including attending the opening of the Courtyard by Marriott Baku hotel and laying the foundation stone for the Alat Free Economic Zone.

In response to the leaked Zoom videos, the opposition labeled it a cybercrime orchestrated by the ruling government. However, there is no indication of direct involvement by President Aliyev or Prime Minister Asadov in the leak.

The leaked footage also exposed concerning levels of homophobia within the opposition party’s leadership, highlighting broader societal issues.

While the leaked videos garnered attention, it’s essential to distinguish between factual events and unsubstantiated claims circulating online. As of now, there are no credible reports implicating President Aliyev or Prime Minister Asadov in the video leak controversy.
